High Precision Navigation and Positioning Conference and INS Tutorial

2008-02-26
The Nordic Institute of Navigation (NNF) will arrange the High Precision Navigation and Positioning Conference and Exhibition on June 10th and 11th, Oslo, tel: 22 51 18 00.

The Space Center has an agreement with Norlandia Karl Johan hotel, Karl Johans gt 33 B, NO – 0162 Oslo, tel: (+47) 23 16 17 00, fax (+47) 22 42 05 19. Please refer to Norwegian Space Center, when you make your booking.

All aspects related to kinematic and dynamic positioning and navigation applications may be addressed in the conference, for example:

  • GNSS positioning and navigation
  • RTK (Real Time Kinematic) positioning, short- and long range
  • Wide-area type corrections versus differential corrections
  • PPP (Precise Point Positioning) for kinematic applications
  • VRS (Virtual Reference Stations)
  • Inertial navigation and integrated navigation systems
  • Quality control
  • How to measure and document accuracy?
  • Comparison of results from different sensors and systems
  • Validation of position solutions
  • Public regulation and requirements
  • Real time versus post processing
  • Comparison of techniques
  • Improvements in accuracy and performance
  • Quality control and documentation
  • Air applications
  • Photogrammetry and Laser scanning (Lidar)
  • Precision landing systems
  • Regulation and requirements for precision landing
  • Land applications
  • Use of GNSS, INS, radar and vision for land applications
  • Integrated systems for remote sensing of road environment
  • Navigation in mines and under ground
  • Indoor navigation
  • Marine applications
  • Docking, manoeuvring of marginal ships and AtoN services
  • Seabed surveying/hydrography and offshore positioning activities
  • Sub-surface positioning and navigation (ROV, AUV, Submarine)
  • Integrated systems (GNSS, USBL, INS, velocity log, pressure sensors etc.)

Presenters are requested to submit their abstract by e-mail to NNF (nornav@online.no). Closing date for submissions: April 21st 2008.

Each abstract submission must provide the following information:

  • Title of Presentation/Paper
  • Topic
  • Keywords
  • Name(s) of Author(s)
  • Identification of the Presenting Author
  • Organisation / Company (if applicable)
  • Mailing Address
  • Phone and Fax Numbers
  • E-mail Address
  • Abstract of about 300 words.

The conference language will be English.

If you wish to contribute with a presentation outside the scope of the above mentioned main topics, please, feel free to submit a proposal for your presentation.

Presentation and papers During the conference the NNF will collect all presentations, and the presentations will be published on the NNF web site shortly after the conference.

Conference proceedings with papers on the presentations will not be published, but we strongly encourage presenters who wish to publish a paper on their presentation to make use of the European Journal of Navigation (EJN). Papers to the EJN can be submitted in English for the main journal, or in a one of the Nordic languages for the NNF member pages.

Exhibition There will be an exhibition, which will run concurrently with the main programme of the conference, and we encourage exhibitors to contact the NNF by e-mail (nornav@online.no) for more information.

INS Tutorial In connection with the conference, we will arrange an introductory course on inertial navigation systems. The course will be held at the conference venue on June 9th. The price for attending the tutorial is NOK 3500,- including lunch.

If you want to attend the tutorial, please send an email with a notification including your contact information to NNF on nornav@online.no before April 21st. The course will be held only if there are more than ten participants. Cancellations are accepted until May 28th. Thereafter the full price for the course must be paid.

The conference fee includes lunch and dinner.
